1984 Macintosh factory
This is a photo of the original Macintosh factory in Fremont, California. It was the first of its kind for the computer industry, featuring advanced automated technology with a Just-In-Time manufacturing system. It was Steve Jobs' decision to make this kind of factory for the first Macs. This factory was able to produce a 128k Macintosh every 27 seconds.
I believe it is still in operation today, manufacturing today's Macs (though I'm unsure).

In response to my last comment. I was extremely naive then. I've grown up in the 20 months since that was posted =)
I kow now that some Mac computers are still Assembled in the US including the MIni.

gthompson1245, Macs have been manufactured in the US, Singapore and Cork, Ireland. The components may come from Japan and China but the actual Macintoshes are not built there.

it's ok he (gthompson1245) is just thinking of the VW beetle and Mexico... True Apple zealots know the truth!
I will add that most modern Apple Laptops are assembled in China and Singapore, as well as a portion of the iPods, and iMacs.

My 2003 PowerBook G4 was manufactured in Taiwan, according to my computer's serial number.

I will have a look at home for a higher res pic. I visited the Cork factory a few times when I was still working at Apple and was given a VHS detailing the production of the first Mac's there.
As for the made comments... Mac's are put together at various factories around the world with parts coming from all over the place. All tightly controlled by an parts invetory system. When you order a Mac it will be translated into various orders for the parts. A system they installed when I was still working there, very cool to see in operation.
