Mating Display

Mating Display

I really enjoyed my outing with Maureen this morning! It was good seeing her and her DH again! Got this shot of these cormorants in a mating displaying. Love that blue mouth!!

Wish I had brought my 2.0 converter with me. But I had left it in my car. Couldn't get very close to these birds. They were very wary of us.....

The Look of a Hunter

The Look of a Hunter

They might not hunt birds or land animals, but they are great fishing birds! And sad to say, many fishermen hate them.
I guess when you first see a cormorant, you just see a muddy looking bird. But look closer! You'll see a quite beautiful bird I think!

Sorry about all the cormorant shots. But I sure had fun getting out and shooting again the other day....LOLOL

Preening

Preening

Caught this Double Crested Cormorant preening it's feathers. It is starting to show it's crest. Most of the year, you don't see it because it only shows up when in breeding plumage.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

A Really Bad Hair Day!

A Really Bad Hair Day!

Actually it's a Double Crested Cormorant coming into it's breeding season and plumage. Normally you don't see the crest on these birds...The insides of their mouths turn bright blue as well! Awesome birds, even tho many fishermen don't think so!

Thanks so much for your comments!
