know.. i guess we all have a collective memory and it is extremely
difficult to come up with new innovative stuff. Well.. just look at
this photo as Soleas interpretation of an old concept.

Je hebt gelijk. Het is heel moeilijk om met nieuwe dingen te komen. En ons collectieve geheugen zit vol met allerlei beelden die ons beïnvloeden. Zelfs als we denken origineel te zijn, dan is het al eens gedaan...

I'm not sure that's the essential point Carmen.Because may be Calexico have looked at your stream and saw a certain number of selfportraits (we're not all equals when talking about memory and his eyes may have only been taken by those selfportraits...)
The fact is you have a lot of selfportraits in your stream.Not only but many.And then what?
The photographies we take are a bit(or totally?) of what we are,what we need,what weu feel,what we want.This is what we do and that s just great to do what we want to do...

Ochaviere: true true and i know as a fellow selfportrait artist you know exactly why we use ourselves as a model. But i really think people should not jump to conclusions before they have studied what they are talking about. Especially when it is negative criticism. If it is about taste; okay you can not argue about that but it is a fact that i photograph a lot of other people too. Don't know.. maybe my elephant skin is not thick enough.. (even after all those years on flickr haha) thanks for the support Xavier.

So what if it's been done before - what matters is how well it's done here, and this is excellent. Anyway, if complete originality were a prerequisite then there wouldn't be much to look at on flickr. (My gallery would be empty for a start.)
As for Calexico's comment... well, each to their own I suppose.

How dare this guy to say that? That is none of his business what you do, you do what you like to do, and not what somebody wants you to do, besides there are many images on your stream that are not self portraits. He is odd.
