Oeufs Mayonnaise

Oeufs Mayonnaise by su-lin.
This is part of what we ate for lunch on Sunday. Work has been hectic, what with a big deadline approaching, and cooking hasn't really been happening lately... Oh, and the mayonnaise isn't homemade...it's Kewpie!

Blog post on Tamarind and Thyme.

I loved this mayonaise when I lived in Beijing.
And I hated all american brands.
I think Kewpie is closest to belgian/dutch mayonaise. Or maybe even better!!

Later I found out how horribly much calories are in there, otherwise it would still be my number one brand! :-)

Abstract Gourmet: The Kewpie mayonnaise bottle comes with a star shaped nozzle that gives you the swirly effect!

leedav: Thank you! And Kewpie is great, isn't it?

FotoosVanRobin: Yes, it's more....eggy, isn't it? Um...I haven't looked at the calories though..... Kind of frightened to look at it now! I'll pretend I didn't read about that....dum de dum dum...

Kewpie is not sweet, but quite acidy (is that a word?)
It was my favorite brand in China. Actually it was the only brand of mayonaise they had in China in the 1980s! It brings a smile to my face just to think of it.
And I am even happier there is a Kewpie bottle sitting right here in my fridge, ready to squeeze out at any time of day or night!

flipteezy: Aww...it's only a little mayo.... :P

lynac: kattebelletje is right, slightly acidic due to the rice vinegar, I think, but not sweet.

kattebelletje: Yay! I don't bother with other mayonnaises nowadays!

It comes in a smaller bottle, and is light green, as one might expect. I am going to buy it next time I see it!
