Canal Clean up

Engineers from the Haitian government team up with military engineers from the United Nations Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) to clean up a major canal in downtown Port au Prince, Haiti. Due to a city wide lack of garbage collection, much debris ends up in the canal systems as a default garbage dump for local residents.

Canal Clean Up

Deputy Chief of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) looks on as engineers from the Haitian government team up with military engineers from MINUSTAH to clean up a major canal in downtown Port au Prince, Haiti. Owing to the absence of any organized system of garbage collection, local residents generally use canals to dump their trash causing blockage and contributing to flooding and the spread of disease, particularly during the rainy season.
