Camera and tripod freely suspended

Have had a problem with lens separating from camera body (at mounting point of the 1.4x extender. Luckily it has never hit the ground, but I have rigged a lanyard from the tripod to the harness just in case it happens again. Do not believe I inadvertently depressed the lens release. Other Canon EOS users have reported similar problem. The harness now bears the major weight, so there is very little stress on the camera body.
