That is a most old and original building in Moscow. I really care for that place.
Every day a lot of people take pictures there.
And this is a beautifull work. I feel Moscow cold weather in it.

when can i ever visit this place......?

    4. YaS-MaNiA (57 months ago | reply)

beautiful place..im gonna visit oneday for sure..

      Thanks, everyone!

@maketouch: Thanks for the clarification. The one you refer to (Christ the Saviour), magnificent as it is, is still only a replica with nearly a century-long gap in its existence, still largely unfamiliar to the outside world.

The one in this photo survived Stalin and his successors, has totally unique architecture and inimmitable character, and is instantly recognisable by the world as an iconic symbol of Moscow and Russia, perhaps more than the Kremlin itself.

Christ the Saviour is the correct main cathedral and I bow my head to all it stands for.

      Vasiliy Blazheniy is Moscow.

So I'm in LOVE with this photo. Seen the cathedral a million times in photos but this really stood out in the pool.

i miss it, such a beautiful place. great pic, feels very nostalgic to me, with its tones and atmosphere. nothing beats a russian winter, to me anyway. this photo makes me think of log fires warming up the dacha, lots of deep fluffy snow outside, wild mushrooms roasting on the old wood burner, my nan making borscht in the kitchen, everyone around the table telling stories and catching up on old times.

I lived in Soviet Union, visited 4 or 5 times Moscow, but I never was in Red Square - it was a protest :(

    32. maistora (41 months ago | reply)

      Thanks, everyone!

@limajulija: Protest against what? Against the square or the cathedral? (I can understand a certain political attitude, but you've missed some great views, architecture and history. Never too late - go see it now. And make sure to have your camera with you :)

Beautiful building, beautiful shot. The air seems so clear, and no power lines interfering. Russia is a fascinating country. One of the things that fascinates me is the extreme differences ... the highly ornate, like this cathedral, and the plain, no-nonsense architecture of some of the 1950's structures. We have the same here in the US, of course, but foreign country's disparaties always seem more .... exotic and interesting.

This square and this church are amazing, and with snow are better.
