HDR night view of the University of Notre Dame Grotto after a day of snow. Assembled in Photoshop CS3 from 6 images f/8, Nikkor 50 mm f/1.4 lens. This set of photos was selected from over 20 exposures taken over a half hour period where I froze standing in the snow. The Grotto is a very popular place. The objective was to capture the Grotto on a snow covered night as one truly sees it. Indeed the statue of Mary is very brightly lit in reality and it overpowers the votive candles. I almost considered using photoshop to edit the raw individual images to gradate this effect, but that would not be realistic.
