Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. She was a Roman Catholic Nun of Albanian ethnicity and a citizen of India. She was the founder of the "Missions of Charity" in Calcutta, India and for more than 45 years tended to the sick, poor and dying. In 1979 she received the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize. She was beatified by by Pope John Paul II shortly after she died and given the title "Blessed Teresa of Calcutta".
I took this photo in July 1995 in the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport. We were waiting for our flight to Ahens, Greece and our gate was next to the gate for a flight to India. Mother Teresa had just spent some time in the U.S. and had flown in from Newark, New Jersey. We believe she was on the same flight that we came in on.
I took this photo with a Minolta SRT-101 35mm film camera.
