On to Capo Pertusato
Bonifacio (Bunifaziu in Corsican) is a town near the southern tip of the island of Corsica, these up to 100 m high cliffs run along the southern side of Corsica, here we see the cliffs going on from Bonifacio towards the southernmost point of the island Capo Pertusato.
The cliffs consist of limestone (with a high dolomite content - i.e. Ca has been replaced with Mg), that limestone is very pure as as such it can be snow white in the right light.
When one follows the small road or the foot paths along the cliffs one passes lighthouses and several ruined buildings of WW2 - remains of the short occupation of Corsica 1941-43 by Italian and German forces (sorry, no photos of these as I didn't have the time to hike there, so you will have to be satisfied with what you can see of them here).
Macchia provides very interesting vegetation for a hike, and makes it very difficult to leave the path.

I saw this picture a couple of times, I wonder how majestic it would be if I can view it's full size in my 26" widescreen TV :-)
