There were a ton of people at Pasadena City Hall, this Friday evening, March 09, 2012, for some special event. I was just driving by and was able to get this shot from my car.

Cymbidium - DSCN1863

This cymbidium put forth these blossoms while it was outside in my yard during the many nightly freezes we had. The fortitude of certain plants and flowers never ceases to amaze me.

First Golden Poppy of Year - DSCN1858

This was the first California Golden Poppy flower to open up in my garden. It is quite large in diameter maybe 3 1/2 inches. Most are an inch smaller in diameter. Usually the first volunteers are the hardiest. The first poppies also have a lot more orange color and as the year progresses they become more golden and yellow.
