Photo Title: The Daily Blog, Gbujama J.M.
While writing "Clivus Transactus", Washington D.C. [2008]
Signing on to the Internet in 1993 (17 years ago) with the technical expertise of an acquaintance, the phone modem Prometheus model ran considerably slower than current means, yet fast enough to catch the download of fetching dogs, line scurrying information across annals. Competitive attractions aside, listserv groups appeared the most purposeful and soon I enlisted on to the company of a small grouping, Sierranet. It was considered real world time back then, with reports and analysis that were both learned and patient, combative and fierce. Among were associates from early educational histories, writers, professors and several apprentices. By 1995 events proliferated; the listing grew larger and irrepressible as more enlistments encountered the growing relations between work and the Internet. Steadily, the technology intensified to its own assertive dimensions and equipped with a Mac Quadra 610, I like most users found themselves on alternate sides of a computer war. The industry vied not only for software, hardware and corporate supremacy, but also stratification and in extreme, mentalist persuasions (if not hidden sorceries); and by the late 1990’s expansive dimensions of web cams, video game technology, and parceled online providers had almost shrunk the resolve of most mailing groups. The end of the millennium witnessed the underfoot crushing of the PC Windows Gates Empire, devastating the enemy despite all Clonus initiatives and contingents. Departments of education and libraries in match with high-speed technology, attempted to standardize provisioning, while domestic reflection neutralized and saturated market place demand. This flow of product and utilization spiraled into govern “mental” spheres and soon psychoanalysts and regulation experts penetrated the fray of an industry challenged by more and more international modifications. Yet the Internet proved to be unimpeded across all domains filled with the by products of information pastime, scattered remnants, abundance and waste of the mentalist core. Truthful connections in relation to programmed incantations have become a chaotic fantasia salvaged by the few. Most recently, following massive blog eruptions, there arises new hope that the political and economic theory of “Intellectual Production” will prevail.
