As a singer April Kirkman performed as APRIL K .
In 2011 she told me that her best years as a performer were round about the time that the song
"PEARL'S A SINGER" was very popular . Elkie Brooks who recorded that song impressed April very much so much so that April attended one of the Elkie Brooks concerts at a one of the major local venues.
It was natural therefor that when April recorded a cassette album to professionally showcase her work and to offer to patrons in the pubs and clubs she performed in , she should make Pearl's a Singer one of its tracks.
If someone has one of April K's cassette albums , or any on-stage pictures of her , it would be appreciated if the would get in touch . April recorded two or more cassette albums .
"Pearl's a Singer" was initially written and performed in 1974 as a gentle folksy sounding blues by Ralph Dino and John Sembello ; however in 1977 the famous American song writers Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller developed it musically and lyrically as an R & B ballad ..

If you take time to listen and conclude that there is little emotionally different to the vocal styles of the original recordists and and that of Elkie Brooks , you can be assured that you would certainly well appreciate the difference between those and the classy power ballad recording made by by April K . Which unfortunately cannot be heard here , at least for the time being .
Sadly April lost her dog only a few weeks before she herself passed on.
