Castlerigg

On a trip with Steve I experimented with shooting only with a telephoto to attempt to isolate some details and to draw the backdrop of Hellvelyn closer.

And You have succeeded = and then some !!!
= A technique that I often employ as I like to pick bits out of a Landscape !!!
= Which whilst the peculiarities of a long focus lens tend to "Stack things up a bit" the reality is that the result is far nearer to what we actualy see with the naked eye = as we scan bits = not see in panorama !!!
= I realy like the result that You have achieved here = a Top Notch Composition.

Bringing the mountain right up behind Castlerigg is very effective. I wonder how it would be to stitch a few long shots together, to include the whole circle?

works a treat, I know up there how hard to choose the right stones without getting half of one in !

I once tried walking with a telephoto - i hoped it might make the top of the hills get nearer as i climbed them....

That really does draw you in Terry !
It needs a vantage point to do the same with the whole circle in view if it's possible.

A success Terry, focus throughout and the composition hasn't suffered.
