There is a Narnia-like land above Yockenthwaite which still has the remains of settlements dating back maybe 4000 years. There are walls and buildings which were homes to the people who lived in this harsh environment, and it is a landscape which I always enjoy. I cannot imagine how they survived up here, battered by the elements and scraping a living from the rocky land. It is also a great place for my kind of photography!
