Towell Falls on Rock Creek...There are two falls set diagonally apart on Rock Creek...they are called Towell falls...In the spring German Brown trout congregate at the falls to rejuvenate them selves over the winter...I guess it is no different for me...seen here photographed, enjoying the cool clean air, sound of the falls and rush of the moment. Rock creek flows out of Rock Lake, over Towell falls ( this being the smallest of the two volume wise) on into the Palouse River over the mighty Palouse Falls eventually flowing into the Snake, then into the Columbia. I think some images speak for themselves...Be it around a cattle drive, a bird feeder, or of a contest to see who has the most prolific orchid...I think that seeing the feeling of, "Admiration" at first sight: is spontaneity at its best...Keeping in mind Ben and Samantha had just been introduced and I was my inclination to record the moment. Samantha was a real asset at the Escure Ranch Bull Roundup... She had the touch...she knew when to push the cattle on and also when to hold back and let them have their space...When you are moving bulls & cows over 18,000 acres...cattle have emotions and setbacks also...occasionally one will get pushed to the breaking point and tell you so, by wanting to tussle with your horse...In bull roundup, the cattle have been rounded up, counted and the baby calves have previously been ear tagged or branded, vaccinated. The cows are then released back out with one bull per 20-25 head of cows...after a couple of months We roundup the bulls: separate them, count the cows and move them on to a new pasture...In the case at Escure ranch: Veterinarian Students from nearby Washington State University (WSU) are brought in to inspect the calves: ear tag, vaccinate, care for and separate the cows from the calves and inspected for any dry cows ( without babies) They generally are inspected for over-all health by the WSU Vet students. Greetings my Friends...You have met Ben, Now I would like to introduce you to two very good friend of mine...Miss Rhonda Massinham Hart and her guest for the day's event, Samantha. I like this picture because it is a very good image of how to greet on the trail...Notice, how Rhonda is holding back slightly; not letting her horse come right up into the horse coming in to greet her... Thus, keeping a distance ...Many accidents occur on the trail when two horses, get in each others faces...eventually displaying dominance...Rhonda is an author of several successful books...articles for magazines and was the editor of a very popular horse magazine...As I tell it , Rhonda, "popped out of the womb writing..." she writes like a bird...
Samantha is a friend of Rhonda's, was raised on a acreage north of Deer Park, Washington up in the woods without electricity and the modern convenience of Television,etc. ..She is home schooled...and her family raised their own meat, produce and staples...pretty much self sustaining... She was raised in the way of the horse.
