Ily (pronounced "Ely") is a graduate of BSN from the University of Northern Philippines, where I also graduated. She is morena beauty with a dare-to-do attitude. Ily is the second Ilocana model I shot in a formal model shoot (first was JD Formoso), with my new group PICS Ilocandia.
This was shot Oct 1, Saturday, on the day of Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk, when we were supposed to walk around Vigan City and shoot photojournal style. After the walk, we planned to shoot models at a location. However, because of typhoon Quiel, the walk was canceled, but we continued with the model shoot as Ily has confirmed to come. Rey Sipin, Jesse Alegre and Christian Roca were the photogs who made it through Quiel.
We didn't brave the strong winds of the outdoors so we went to our house, cleared the living room and used one section of the wall as backdrop (it was yellow). Four of us were taking turns at shooting, with 3 layouts per photog. It thus takes time to come around my turn again, so I introduced one of shooting techniques I learned--the "Nakaw-Ilaw" technique. This accounts for the slow shutter in the EXIF data.

[rarerimages] First Kiss
As the photographer, you know that the ceremony is nearing its end when they start to take the binding cord off the couple. By this time, you should prepare for the eventual "first kiss." When the ceremony ends, the couple is presented by the officiating minister/priest to the guests. You are on your toes again, ready to shoot for the couple's "first kiss" as husband and wife.
This is the one moment you must have in your "item to be discussed" during your previous meeting with the clients. You must have told the couple, especially the groom, that he must proceed with the kiss only when he sees you are ready. If you missed it for some reason, you could clamor for another kiss. But, a third time could earn you a searing glance, so make sure that you get a good kiss photo by the second take.
Some post-processing edit done for album purposes.

[rarerimages] Weaving a Living
A fisherman weaves his damaged net at Pandan, Caoayan. This place is where the river washes out to sea. Fishemen can choose to head out to sea when the waters are calm, or they can choose to catch fishes in the river. Fish pens are plenty in this place.

[rarerimages] To Live Longer
Manang (sorry I forgot her name) and I talked at length. She said she is already 84! I can't believe my ears. She still looks spritely. I asked her secret. She replied she eats a lot of vegetables. Though she sells longanisa, she eats them sparingly.
She also mentioned some photographers who were "like us, with big cameras" who also made her stall a "pit stop" where she handed clues to the next subject of hunt. Evidently, she was talking about the Amazing Race reality show.
