Big Falls, State Game Lands 13, Pennsylvania

Big Falls, State Game Lands 13, Pennsylvania

I was inspired by my good friend Doug McMillen (mcmillend) to post the first of dozens of shots I took during a June, 2011 hiking trip with him in Central PA.

This is Big Falls on Heberly Run in State Game Lands #13. A very challenging hike, as I remember it.

Hope it warms up your winter 2012 a bit!

Quechee Dam, Simon Pearce

Quechee Dam, Simon Pearce

I previously posted something similar, a portrait shot of the same scene. Not having much new to post, I worked on this iPhone shot to bring out more texture and light.

Just to the right of this scene is the famous Quechee covered bridge. The bridge almost ended up in the river. You can just see some of the broken rocks from the bridge approach in the lower right corner of the frame.

That building across the river is the Simon Pearce glass factory and store. The white section over the falls is a restaurant within the Simon Pearce complex. Simon Pearce (the man) purchased an old mill on the Ottauquechee river and totally renovated it. Up until the hurricane Irene flood they were using hydropower generated from the dam to fire the glass furnaces. Most of the basement of the facility was flooded and they are now restoring and repairing everything.

But is it Art? - Southern Vermont Art Center

But is it Art? - Southern Vermont Art Center

This is an iPhone 4 photo taken from the inside of the Southern Vermont Art Center in Manchester, Vermont.

There were some beautiful paintings on exhibit, and some very wonderful photos. But somehow my eye was drawn to this scene out the second story window of the gallery.

Climate Control Comfort

Climate Control Comfort

I've never been skiing but if I do, I'll be sure to do it at a place that has these cool ski lift cars, like Stratton Mountain.

Is that the right term for them?

Springtime Serenity

Springtime Serenity

We finally got our first real snow here in Southern Vermont. I was going to go shoot the Weston mill in the snow, but I thought the light wasn't quite right. I'm saving it for another day.

So - now for something completely different. A heretofore unposted archive shot of a seasonal waterfall at Letchworth State Park in Castile, NY. Since our move to Vermont, it might be a long time before I get back to good old Letchworth again.

So enjoy this shot of Springtime serenity!!
