Cloudwarp / Baby in the Sky / The Dancers

Cloudwarp / Baby in the Sky / The Dancers

There were some cool cloud formations last night at sunset, so I switched my camera to sunset mode and grabbed a snap.

While having the image open in paint shop pro I just decided to apply a spiral and mirror to see what it would look like - very odd is the result!

I still can't work out whether the dancer-inside-a-dancer image would have occured no matter what cloud formations there were or whether it was just coincidence or a fluke!

Either way, I like it :)

Death is nothing at all

Death is nothing at all

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you,
whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone,
wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow,
laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Pray smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort,
without the trace of a shadow in it.
Life means all that it ever meant,
it is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity,
why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you
somewhere very near
just around the corner.
All is well.

The church of St Lawrence

The church of St Lawrence

The 18th century Church of St. Lawrence, with its golden ball on the top of the hill, is a well-known landmark, visible for many miles due its hilltop location, visually dominating the village. The ball can seat up to eight people and gives a panoramic view of the area. The church was remodelled by Sir Francis Dashwood inside and out.

West Wycombe, from above

West Wycombe, from above

From the top of the church of St. Lawrence, viewing straight down at the graveyeard, then Dashwood Mausoleum, then West Wycombe and the A40 stretching south into the distance.

The climb to the top is NOT for the faint hearted (my wife would go no further than half way up) and to get this picture in particular I had to stand on the edge of the roof of the church, which you can see in the bottom left of the photo. Scary stuff, but worth it!
