I had the pleasure of flying on one of these
Air California Electras when I was a child,
from Orange County to Oakland. It was a
delight, as I was used to flying 737's from
Southern California to the Bay Area to visit
my Mom and found the propeller planes with
those droning 4 engines that occasionally
took off over my school on the Back Bay in
Newport Beach somehow more exciting. This looks almost like it could be Orange
County Airport in the early 70's, before it
was John Wayne.
I think your right about the location. I
loved flying the Electra also. Just the hum
of the turboprops to me was always so
soothing. In the late 60's i lived right
under the final approach for Lindbergh at
Loma Portal in Point Loma. I didn't even
have to be outside to be able to tell what
plane just flew over. Amazing times, even
hearing the amazing crackling afterwinds was
a phenominal experience and always the source
for amazing nighmares some of which i still
remember to this day.
