~Happy May Day~
I'm posting this late, but I just had to get it posted on May Day :)
I drove a field trip of 200 2nd graders to a Pioneer Farm outside of
Austin today. Four buses went...it was hot and muggy, 97
degrees....thank goodness I brought a cooler with 4 huge bottles of
Fiji water.
I had to drive my regular route when we got back at 3:00...then I got
home at 6:00, watered the garden, the one in the front and the one in
the back....fed the birds...fed the dogs and realized we were out of
cat food. Drove to the store to get that...the store is 30 minutes
away, yes we live wayyyyy out in the country, lol
I picked up pizza on the way home for Mason and me...everyone else is
gone and it's nice and quiet! and I am beat....sorry I am posting
again before visiting your streams, but now you know why :)
May Day was always so special to me as a kid. In school we would spend
a week making a basket to take home and the night before May Day we
were supposed to fill it with flowers...I probably filled it with
dandelions...and in the morning on May Day we would put it outside the
front door for Mom, ring the doorbell, and run away. Of course Mom
always acted surprised. It was so much fun and one of my favorite
memories of my childhood in Short Hills, New Jersey. I hope everyone
had a wonderful Friday. Thank goodness I get to sleep late in the
morning!

Whew . . . just reading what you did today wore me out!!!! I'm still trying to grasp for breath right now. LOL! Well, I'm glad you are home now and do try to find some time to relax gurlfriend . . . wow . . . 200 2nd graders, huh? And having to drive 30 minutes away just to buy cat food. Luckily my neighbors have cats so I just knock on the door when I run out of cat food . . . gone are the days of borrowing eggs. LOL! Thanks Marie for sharing the story of May Day. I remember in elementary school we'd set up this pole for the May Pole and we'd dance . . .. we also did that in ballet . . anyhoo, have a relaxing and fantastic weekend Marie . . Hugs, Lulu

Happy "morning after May day", Tea.
Loved your story. As kids, we'd make little May baskets and fill them with plastic grass and candy for our friends and leave them on their doors... sort of a way to extend the shelf life of the plastic grass and Easter candy by the local shops, no doubt. 8-)
