Oh my goodness. Your "babylegs" look fantastic. And your daughter is a perfect model for them. I came to flickr tonight to look at babyleg patterns before I buy my DD her first pair. Now that I found your instructions, I think I'll just make a pair. Thanks for the tutorial!!!!

Thanks for this idea! I just went out and found some cute tube socks for 70% of at J.C. Penney. I am in the middle of making mine and wondering, why didn't you just leave the foot part as a tube, turn it halfway inside out and then sew it on? My baby has pretty chunky legs so I think that is what I am going to do. I'll let you know how they work.

Just one question- I would like to make these from knit material that I have sitting around. How wide across is the tube sock and how long? I love your pattern.

    10. Baby Hopes (59 months ago | reply)

The sock stretches... so how wide you need it would depend on how stretchy your knitting is. You may try measuring around your babe's leg and seeing how wide your knit stretches and adjust from there. These tube socks pictured are about 16-17 inches long from top to bottom...

      Hope that helps!

Thank you thank you thank you for awesome instructions. I bought socks yesterday just for this project. I am very new at sewing and stared at your instructions for days trying to figure out how to make them before I bought materials. I sewed it wrong at first, but figured it out after half a day. Thank you so much.

It was so much easier than I thought.

Thanks for posting GREAT instructions! I didn't want to pay for real Baby Legs, so I tried to knit some before I remembered that DD didn't leave much time for knitting anymore. I was ready to give up until I came across these instructions and was able to use my meager sewing skills to whip up a pair in about ten minutes. Love 'em! Now I can put DD in her cute little dresses and onesies without worrying about cold legs. Thanks!!

fabulous! I love that you show how they look on the baby- I have seen a tute slightly like this (where they make a cuff) and I thought No way I'd make them with a cuff, it would be ugly- but here it looks so cute! I am going to whip some up now. Thanks for sharing

Question.... do you just tuck them under the baby's onesie? I've seen babylegs worn over a pair of pants for added warmth, like old school legwarmers... but i see your kiddo wearing them differently..... Thanks! i am going to give these a try.

    18. Baby Hopes (52 months ago | reply)

Normally we use babylegs under shorts or skirts, but in this image she's just wearing them to keep her legs warmer on the cool wood floor. I just have them pulled all the way up.

Thanks for this great tutorial! I looked all over for instructions on how to make baby leg warmers, and this is the best! You did a great job of illustrating and explaining it each step of the way. Can't wait to go out and buy some socks and try it. And what a cute baby and cute sewing helper you have!

You're right - these were stupid easy. I had a pair of adorable knee socks just sitting in my drawer that I never wore and they are now the most adorable pair of baby legs! I can't wait to try them on my sweet girl tomorrow morning! THANKS!

Just found this today and I'll be shopping for socks tonight! Can't wait to make some. Even though I just ordered 2 pair from babylegs, they were on sale though, $7 each isn't too bad. ;)

I am SOOO excited to have found your instructions!! thank you thank you soo much : )--- can't wait to share more pics. Seriously. $12/pair? That's pretty expensive, and I'm known to buy pretty excessive things!

thanks so much!! mine turned out great! can't wait to find another pair of socks to make more out of!

I LOVE these so much! I found 3 pair for $6.99 at Target! I made one pair and will make the rest today. My 3 1/2 year old is wearing the first pair I made with a 3inch cuff. The rest will be for our unborn baby girl, so they'll be smaller. I am so excited to make some for my girls to match!!! Oh, and they look absolutely adorable with homemade tutus!!! It's not such a bad thing being a crunchy mama! I think I'll start giving a tutu with a couple pair of baby legs to all my preggo friends having girls. Oh, and it's cute for a 1 or 2 year old present.
YOU ROCK! Thanks for posting this and keeping it up!

is there an easier way if you dont have acess to a sewing machine? i dont think the stiching by hand would look good im horrible at that!
