• THAT is being spirited. Hats off to this disabled gentleman.

Chennai prayed too hard.... Part III

I have never taken photographs in rain before. My other cameras never had a fast lens. And it did not rain so much after I got this camera.

I set the ISO setting as high as I could and made the most of my drive through the city. I took some shots from the office windows as well.

Chennai's traffic is as chaotic in normal times except that traffic is heavier.

Best part of the photo above is the top left corner.

Thanks photofiddler. You are right and we find disadvantaged people being far more able and spirited than others.

Thanks eiraccor. Things are better and I really appreciate your concern.

What a moment captured - lucky for us that you decided to take your camera with you - hope it survives the downpour without any lasting incursion!

These are superb images, I feel very priveliged to see them. Thankyou for bringing this to us...

    Thanks Wolfy, SBD and Tracy.

It was a choatic day. I had to drive myself and I had to go to office. Hence I decided to make the most of it by taking the camera. As the traffic was moving slowly anyway I could easily juggle the steering wheel, camera and the phone!

I am usually safety conscious and people in office or home usually incur my wrath for such things. That day was an exception and I shot close to 50 pictures. Of course, I did not go places where the water level was more as I was in a car. It was some experience.

This shot was taken from a building.

    soberingly intense.
i know it is hard to shoot through car windows in sheeting rain . . .

amazing chaos. i hope the poor guy in the wheel chair made it to his destination . . . his head is down and he is working hard.

Nice, Kathy, you could see the spirited soul on tricycle. In Chennai, these special cycles for the disabled are plenty. India as country has a long way to go for fair opportunities for them.

But interestingly, India has some most progressive laws comparable with any developed nation aimed at bettering the lives of the disabled. Unfortunately, many (building constructors, employers, service providers) are ignorant or negligent and, worse, the enforcement is non-existent.

Incredible scenes. The guy in the chair reminds me that sometimes necessity drives us when all else fails. I'm sure he would have preferred an alternative, and I salute his determination.
I hope things are easing off now, and that life can return to normal.

Thanks small fry. Things are settling down. And I agree with you about necessity. I had a blind friend many years ago. He lost his sight at the age of 30. You should see him handle a telephone (rotary dial) or identify someone with smell. Yes, humans develop extraordinary abilities when they really need to.
