God's own country - Family flying kites
Kerala, the land of eternal holidays, kathakali, coconuts and waterways, calls itself God's own country in its travel brochures. Whether you believe in Gods or not, Gods, if they exist, would definitely have an address in Kerala considering their normal hedonistic ways. The place is built for stereotypical tourism.
You will find in beaches, forests, rivers, mountains and a laid-back attitude making it a potent blend for traditional holidays. The state thrives on tourism. It is different from many other holiday destinations in India and has a little bit more experience and professionalism in managing the tourism. You may get fleeced but not cheated. You will have plenty options to do your own thing. Facilities may not always be top class but people are visitor-friendly.
Not for nothing it is in the lists of top tourist destinations of many travel sites. Do visit Kerala on a holiday.
Above is a picture symbolic of our entire trip. Kids frolicking, grown ups flying kites or shooting photos all in a beautiful setting. The beach was sorta crowded btw and the entrie crowd is just off the frame!
Camera used: Panasonic FZ5
This photo happens to be the most interesting Flickr picture tagged Kerala.

satosphere - I have the exif data safe in my archive copies.
Kathy - I am glad your trip to Kerala has happy memories. I have many more photos to upload.
Kerala cuisine is very distinctive from that of the neighbouring states. Being a coastal country seafood is popular with rice being the staple. Add coconuts and bananas. Don't forget that kerala is also a spice country. Though these are the highlights cuisine or at least the flavour varies so much as you travel from the northern malabar to Trivandrum in the south.
Nice to know that you are interested in Kerala cuisine. Do visit again.

Another great shot from Pandiyan! Good for another BRAVO post!
Thanks for all your recent comments. Sometimes I feel I have lived many lives (in this one) and they're not connected!
Have you sent a portfolio of your work to the Kerala Tourism Board? / Joe
Pandiyan (92 months ago | reply)
Thanks Luca Piz and SuperDave.
Long time no see, Joe. Thanks for your visit. Kerala tourism board can manage on its own I think. In India they are ahead of everyone as far as tourism is concerned. I take your comment as a compliment. Much appreciated.

Great composition. I wish I could see more detail on the beach, I guess you'd need to superimpose a couple of exposures to get that.

I really like this picture. I think the exposition is great: I love the colour of the sky and its reflections in the water and the silhouetted people and the kite add a lot of interest to the image.
