Chay - You wait until IJ 4; I have heard they
are starting the shoot anytime.
CellarDoor - Thanks. Neither does this one!
I, Puzzled - I AM puzzled a bit with your
handle! The rock is big; about 20ft in
height. You can see a small dog sleeping
under it, if you look closely. And it is info
for tourists. Grave markers can wait till it
catches some tourists or Indiana Jones.
Chuck Rogers - Favourite activity of tourists
is stand under it and pose for pictures as if
they are holding it. They are lucky so far.
eclectic echoes - yes.
algo - It is bigger than many Indian houses.
And of course you are right about people.
When they pose they invariably have a stupid
grin!
Reminds me of the Task of Sisyphus - perhaps
he's cheated and taking a breather behind the
rock out of our sight, but his dog has
nothing to be ashamed of!
It's an interesting picture Pandiyan, you
really could have fun playing with the
perspective in your viewfinder!
mimbrava - It has been standing like this for
centuries. It is pretty safe, for now.
eva8, photo fiddler, neloqua - Thanks
swamy - It is Mahabs. The legend is that
this rock is a bit of butter spilt by
Krishna.
Trapac - Boulder of Sisyphus rolls; does not
stay in one place, I thought. Any way, as you
say, the dog does not care for Sisyphus,
Krishna or I Jones.
Ollie Girk - We went close to that rock.
Actually I have photos of some of my brood
with touristy pics with that rock! You can
actually slide down that slope. They were
doing it for quite a while.
aarthy - Welcome back. see the notes I have
put now.
I love seeing this photo! I'm drawn to all
images of rocks, minerals and geological
marvels. I'd love to see this myself one
day. Thanks for sharing your photos.
great shot - brings back memories of my visit
to mahabalipuram as a college kid, and lying
under the rock to have a pic taken as if i
was holding the rock up :)
You are very observant, Ophis. That part of
the rock broke off many years ago. May be
humans but we do not know. This small town is
full of rock cut reliefs (look at this but all that was 1200 years ago.
Pandiyan - Maybe an elephant could roll it,
but I doubt it.
Thanks for your comment on the old Dutch tree
and the sunset. Yes unseen for 15 years and
if I had not disassembled my 40 albums, this
would likely be among the first things hauled
off by the junkman after I'm gone.
But now you have seen it and it will be
remembered a little while longer! / Joe

How big is it?
(The rock, I mean.)
Is that a grave marker to the right or info for tourists?
Vicki & Chuck Rogers (82 months ago | reply)
I don't believe I'd stand too close below the rock.

Is this the house sized rock? People love to be taken apparently holding it up.
