Is that from yesterday - Aug.19? Great shot! How does this thing manage to hang up there? =|
We had a hell of a moon yesterday night over San Diego - huge and orange. I tried to capture it too.

Did you use just the FZ's regular zoom for this shot? Are you happy with the camera? Would it, do you think, take good macros? (Obviously, I've just started thinking of switching from my Canon A85 and don't quite know what to get yet.)
Thank you for your sweet comments on my '20,000' image and elsewhere today. I appreciate it!
Ollie_girl (83 months ago | reply)
Wow! I wondered where the moon went... and you've got it! Great shot!
Pandiyan (83 months ago | reply)
Thanks parkersunshine and roselover. You both were pretty quick to catch this shot!
mutbka - Thanks. Where is yours? I am asking for the moon!
mimbrava - Thanks for visiting.
I have used regular zoom for this shot. It is a good camera with a very good lens. Lens is fantastic in good light. Image stabiliser is best in class. Minor quibbles are lack of manual focussing, no RAW imaging. It sharpens and saturates pictures a little too much.
However, in my opinion, for the kind of pictures that you take, you would be better off with a DSLR and a good macro lens. Having said that I must admit that I amazed at the kind of photos you have managed with A85.
Ollie_girl - Here you are. I got it for you!

Thanks Photo Marcante and SouthernBelladonna.
Thermodynamix - Though Rakhi is not celebrated widely here I think it is a good concept. I don't have any sisters though to tie a rakhi for me!

I think it's quite the glorious attempt and capture. She's beautiful, isn't she?
Pandiyan (83 months ago | reply)
Thanks GustavoG.
Yes, Duane. She is beautiful. Moon has inspired more poets than anything else. Our moon is not the largest but happens to be among the brightest in the solor system.

hmm...cool shot! why dont u post exif data so that other people can learn from a great like you?
just a though ...
i was looking for a *capturable* moon for the last few weeks but the typical english weather ...u know what i mean :P
Pandiyan (83 months ago | reply)
Thanks tawfique. Earlier I was posting some scanned pictures and others without EXIF I put the setting off. This I think was at 430mm, 1/400 at f4 or f5.6.

something I could never do...so happy to see such a beauty :)

Nice and clear shot! I never thought of this before, but if I'm right, being closer to the equator should generally mean less atmosphere between you and the moon when it reaches its maximum altitude at your location. In any case: well done. Congratulations on a great capture.
Pandiyan (82 months ago | reply)
Thanks Solitaire for the appreciative words. Perhaps you go for more creative photography than this.
Thanks Small. I don't know whether I have go the best out of the lens as yet and also whether a lit bit of atmosphere to matter so much. But I am told early part of the year is better for moonshots where I live. I have to find out why.
Garnite (82 months ago | reply)
Excellent shot, and well worth waiting for. It's the same here, I miss a lot of them due to clouds. I really hope to see the Harvest Moon in September.
Pandiyan (82 months ago | reply)
I am also looking forward to it, Garnite.

Another really great moon photo. I agree with what you were telling mimbrava that a reliable digital SLR with an excellent macro lens is recommended. Right now, I cannot afford a digital SLR camera at the moment, but if in the future I can afford to upgrade, I mostly would lean towards Sony's Alpha line-up. :-)
