variable cloudiness

I recently got a B+W ND1000x filter, which lets you do very long exposures in daytime.

This is a over 2 minute exposure, mid-afternoon while a cold november wind blew the clouds by. Processed as a HDR from a single raw file to bring out as much detail as possible.

Very cool. I recently read about ND filters and put one at the top of my list. Now I really want one after seeing this shot. Would you call this a 10 stop filter? Beautiful shot, magical even.

micgormit This is a 10-stop filter, yes. I also own a Hoya ND400 filter which is 9 stops. Either would be a good choice for your next filter.

I love the treatment in this shot. I have this filter also. You can get a 16 minute exposure just around sunset or sunrise.

Thanks syncros. I was debating which stop to try so that's helpful.

Any story about that building? I'm wondering where it is.

Ok, I'm stumped. What is this and where in the city is it? Great shot...hmmm...maybe I need to add this filter to my wish list...

markva2 I've mapped the location now. It's a pumping station across from a waste treatment plant. I've always appreciated its nice design.

jasonainsworth75 Its by Coxwell and Lakeshore and extreme neutral density filters are a very nice addition to a photographic arsenal.

Awesome picture of a beautiful building! Great choice with the ND filter to add the movement to the sky.
