I've always loved EPCOT Center as a kid. The pure scale of it is just breathtaking. The park is so scenic from just about every angle, it's a photographer's heaven, and Spaceship Earth is the centerpiece.
The structure has been expertly photographed by so many so well in nearly every possible angle and light, I was really scratching my head to come up with an original take. To boot, the original image wasn't perfectly sharp - the Rokinon fish isn't top notch. So, I tried something different since this wasn't going to pop with the natural look.
To me the Rays of Light really fit the 80's theme. Hope you like it, this really gave me the 80's/vintage Disney chills.
* My usual process - ACR level adjustment (start with cloudy and work backwards), smart sharpening, highlight adjustment.
* Added the text layer of the original Epcot tagline (which is near and dear to my heart) in the Prototypes font. Blurred the layer a bit to get rid of the sharp text edges and make it smooth.
* Applied the Ray of Light tutorial: photoshoptutorials.ws/photoshop-tutorials/photo-manipulat... to add the light rays
* Created a mask layer on the rays - With opacity set at about 25 percent, chose a very large and non-hard brush and selectively hit the center of SSE a few times to make it nice and sharp and slowly fade to light rays around the exterior.
