You might ask, What's a Red-tailed hawk doing in the middle of the street?

Ahh.. He sees fresh killed meat; a squirrel!

He pounces on it to get a good talon hold.

      Hawk in the Road 4
Admiring and guarding his prize. Shortly after this, he flew off with the squirrel firmly between his talons like an Eagle with a fish. I was changing settings to catch the flight but I was too late; he had flown. In doing so, he performs a valuable street cleaning service.

What an interesting series, very well captured! I like the first shot the best as your beautiful model looks so out of place standing on the pavement!

The question is. Why didn't it fly off when it saw you? Great bird.

Thanks Everyone for your nice thoughts!
Alofbird: It would have flown off but for two reasons, I believe. (After all, how can I know?) 1) I stayed in the car (it acting as a blind) and 2) the squirrel was worth it!
