The Pinnacles

    Newer Older

New Image: "The Pinnacles": The Pinnacles Desert is one of the most remarkable and curious landscapes I have ever witnessed. The Pinnacles are limestone formations contained within Nambung National Park, near the town of Cervantes, Western Australia.

The Nambung National Park is completely littered with these limestone pillars that dot the landscape reaching toward the sky like stalagmites in a dark cave. There are literally thousands of them in all shapes and sizes for a small stone to a large pillar 4 metres tall.

The mechanisms through which the Pinnacles were formed are the subject of some controversy, with a number of theories been hypothesised by scientists.
