020308, 034/366: Why is fresh fried yeast dough so delicious?

February 3, 2008. 034/366. I'm not really happy with the pictures from Sunday... first of all, my husband took most of them (I'll admit right now this was one of them), and secondly, I want to turn them into posts for the blog!

 

Like this one, for instance. There's a doughnut shop on Airport that's been open since 1948 - a long time for Austin! Mrs. Johnson's Bakery is open just about every day from 8 PM until noon the following day. - and the guy who gave us our doughnuts (and threw 2 extra in the bag) told us he's been working there since 1982. Every day but Christmas, he said. No vacations.

 

Eep.

 

The doughnuts were good and fresh. We got glazed and one lemon-filled.
