Winter sun
www.warrendaviesphotography.co.uk
As the previous day's rainfall had all but washed away the snow in the lower lying towns and cities i decided to venture out onto the moors above Halifax and try and grab a few shots of the wind turbines up there at sunset.
Something i had tried to do just prior to christmas but was thwarted, in the first place by crazy directions from the Sat Nav and then by bad light and rain.
The further out into the sticks i got the thicker the covering of snow on the ground got, high up on the moors the drifts must still have been 4 - 5 feet deep in places. Thankfully the roads were clear.
Stopping of ontop of the moor opposite the wind farm to grab some shots of the snow covered valleys things were not looking good for a wind farm sunset. Heavy low cloud meant the huge turbines were only just visible through the gloom.
After grabbing a few shots and jumping back into the car for some much needed warmth i suddenly noticed a chink of light way off in the distance. Seeing this raised my hopes and so off i sped down valley and up dale to the top of Ovenden moor and the wind farm. By the time i had made it up there blue skies were beginning to appear as the sun began to burn through the cloud. With a stiff breeze helping to clear the heavy stuff it wasn't long before we were blessed with some glorious late afternoon winter sun.

@ Pual - I can tell you it was anything but warm up there, knee deep snow and a biting wind. Amazingly i bumped into a photo buddy of mine up there who'd dragged some poor half naked model there for a shoot!!

lol, can picture it now! One fully weatherproofed 'tog. One loin clothed young lady (near hypothermic) dragging her sorry stilleto'd heels thru 4 feet of snow. But the show must go on.......................
