Nike+ chip on Vibram FiveFingers Bikila

Newer Older

I've worn Vibram FiveFingers for over a year now, just about every day. But I didn't start running in them until recently. They're not kidding when they suggest building up gradually with short runs, when you start out. I thought my walking experience would have strengthened my foot muscles enough for running. I was wrong. Boy were my foot muscles sore the day after a 3 mile run! So, now I'm working up from 1 mile.

I give the Bikilas a very good review thus far. The sole is more durable than most other FiveFinger styles, which is great because after a year of regular wear, I wore a hole through the sole of my first pair, just walking. I expect these to last longer than traditional running shoes, because there's no foam cushion to wear out. Time'll tell on that one.

I probably won't wear them as casual walking shoes, because they are WHITE! and I already find my brown and gray pairs attract enough attention. :)

Nike chip is attached to the Velcro strap with an adhesive dot.

I have the blue Bikilas, and people just can't help but stare at them. I guess you've had loadsa people ask you about them in over a year!

I have! New Yorkers generally keep to themselves, but just wear a pair of FiveFingers on the subway, and suddenly everyone wants to know if your toes are "really in there," where you got them, and how much you paid for them. It can be a little irritating at times when you just want to relax and read your book. ^_^

How accurate does your chip read? I tucked mine inside my inner heel and went on a 4 mile walk today and all it recorded was .27 miles worth, mine is calibrated to my stride and is very rarely off pace.

Really? I haven't calibrated mine yet, but I know it's pretty close to accurate. Perhaps the battery in yours is dying? I hear the chip only lasts about a year. :/
Or maybe there's something about it needing to be toward the center of your foot?
Truth be told, I'm a bit irked that I bought the chip a few weeks before they came out with the GPS app that negates the need for the chip if you have an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4.

I just used it 2 days ago and it accurate. I live in a place where we don't have the luxury of iPhones, I have used Runstar on Android which is ok.

Maybe being center on the foot is the key, I will give that a try, thanks for the tip.

I want to get some of those shoes! I've seen them, before, and they look like they can be very comfortable.

They have a great selection at CitySports, if you want to try them on. :)
Although... they're better for summer than winter. :(

Btw, are they the right fit for you? It looks as if there's plenty of free space in the toe pockets, and you're toes supposed to go in all the way in. If you check my photo stream you will find a pic of my Bikilas, which are the right size for me. Look forward to hearing from you

I guess you're right, the toes are a little wide, but the fit right lengthwise. My feet are on the narrow side. ^_^

Only One word to characterize such a great post “WOW” that was a very interesting read and i think a Nike pas cher is necessary in some case

Learn English, 'Willowchina'. Nice fake website you've linked to too, doesn't even load.

Don't these hurt if you tread on a stone Soopahgrover?
I wear Adidas Adios and use the Jivo sensor sock:

...I tried wearing Nike's half-hearted take on 'barefoot' running shoes, the 'Free Run+ 2', but my right foot was aching all the way up to my knee for 2 months, non-stop - seem like a dangerous gimmick. So I got the Adios, which are really light and have good grip, even for trails. I like them.
NB: The Nike sensor is meant to be held flat, with the logo facing up.

I've got red KSOs and I just slip my Nike+ sensor in on top of my foot and push it towards my big toe. I dont notice it at all when i run.
