Sifaka

Sifaka

Sifakas (Propithecus verreauxi) are lemurs from Madagascar, and were named by the Malagasy people for the calls they make. They are considered endangered, and are threatened by destruction of their forest homes. This guy lives at the Houston Zoo. For more info about these adorable little mammals, this is a good place to start.

Dainty

Dainty

Have no idea what these are, but they caught my eye while at the botanical gardens playing with the 100mm/ 2.8 macro lens I bought for my wifey a couple of years ago. These little flowers are maybe 1/2 inch across. Very little post work on this too, boosted the saturation and clarity ever so slightly and tagged it with my copyright. I love the detail in the detritus on the dark maroonish brown leaf on the right side of the pic.

Redder Hotter Chilli

Redder Hotter Chilli

This is a rework of an image I uploaded when I first joined Flickr. I know the quality sucks but given it is a scan of an almost twenty year old pic, it is one of my personal favorite images. It was a case of "right place, right time." What I wouldn't have given for digital technology back then seeing how I can't locate the original negative for this image. Back then it was just me and my trusty AE-1.

I was sitting on the 3rd floor wall of a parking garage stairwell taking pics of the race cars coming straight at me down this 1/4 mile or so straight away. This guy comes flying around the corner and slams the wall, instantly catching fire. He slid the entire length of the straight and came to rest against the curb directly under me. The safety crews where in there almost before he came to complete stop and were able to get him out quickly. If I remember correctly, the only injury sustained was a broken ankle.
