1,159 thirty-sec exposures spanning more than 10.5 hours. The irregular galaxies Small and Large Magellanic Clouds (SMC and LMC, respectively) are visible towards the middle of the time-lapse sequence. Very Large Telescope, Paranal Observatory, Atacama Desert, Chile, 23-24 Aug 2009 (Nikon D700).

I used to live at more or less the same latitude of the VLT and observe the same sky areas from home, but of course the sky quality was much worse! It's impressive what you can register here with single 30-sec. explosures... The Moon setting, Sagittarius, the Milky Way band and the Magellanic Clouds, all is superb in this video! :-D
