I took this shot of the 'mirage' through the coach window as we were travelling at 60mph through the desert between Abu Simbel & Aswan in the early afternoon sun.

Hi Linda Yvonne,
The mirage is caused by the desert heat and its effect on the light as we see it. It creates the illusion of water in the desert! The facinating thing is you can even see reflections of the hills in the water which doesn't exist!
