Red Hills Horse Trials 2011 - Cross Country
The Cross Country phase of the Red Hills Horse Trials is designed to test both the horse's and the rider's fitness, courage, ability and accuracy.

A Cross Country couse is typically between 1 and 2 1/2 miles, depending upon the level of competition, with fixed solid fences. The course will have an "optimum" time that competitors try to achieve in order to not be awarded time penalties, with penalties being awarded for going both too fast and too slow.
