32MB-SD-CardLock switch in "Writeable" position. As you can see this switch is in no way connected to the circuit board (PCB). Its just a bit of plastic similar as the write protect slider on 3.5" Floppy disks. ![]() Uploaded to show how he SD-Card "lock switch" works.

Indeed the little switch is only evaluated by the card reader, the card cannot protect itself by setting the switch to locked. If the Appliance/or the cardreader is "evil" it can just ignore the setting of the switch and write to the card regardless of switch position. The Switch is just a "flag" to be evaluated by the SD-Card reading device.
