Shattered Plans

I had lots of plans for the day, but discovered this shattered patio door when entering my sewing room this morning. It was dark and raining when I first tried to take pics, and none were that interesting- with or without flash. These were taken late morning with light rain still falling, but definitely lighter outside. No playing today-have to clean and organize my sewing room before the carpenters come on Monday. Had some glass to clean up, but most is still intact, and I'm hoping it stays that way until a new door is installed.

Sorry to hear about the door. You got some magnificent shots of it.
If you are worried about more glass falling out just put a few strips of wide tape over the glass.

Made for great photos, but sorry to see this happened. What caused it? I'd put some tape on it like kris suggested. Nice captures of it.

Not sure what happened, but exterior glass panel is intact so nothing outside hit the glass. Same thing happened 20 years ago (patio door was only 3 years old). Wondering if the 7 days of rain had anything to do with it, but can't imagine how. Temps weren't that different outside and inside. Another mystery, but now I have lots of pictures to play with.

how weird, the inner glass is shattered but not the outside?

this does make for a good picture. i esp. like the second one, maybe in another 20 years you can get another picture like this!

Nothing outside hit the glass & inside glass is what shattered?
      Such a mystery.
Even a small earthquake would not explain it, not foundation settling.
Only other thing I can think of is ghosts... LOL
      These are very interesting shots!

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! You certainly did that by making the most of a bad situation and getting some good pictures. I hope it isn't too much of an inconvenience with the cold weather and rain we're having.
