Two 900 year old Douglas-fir
The park was closed but the road was clear. Hiked in blue jeans. Found snow on the East Side Trail along the Ohanapecosh River to the Grove of the Patriarchs. Last hike of 2011, and a good one. Good way to end 2011 and start looking forward to road trips, hikes, and backpacking adventures in 2012.

Sharon & Darlene - - Thanks you both for you comments on this photo and the good wishes for 2012. My computer hard drive crashed the last week in December and I'm just now getting up and running (slowly) on a different computer, so please accept my day late wishes to both of you for a Happy New Year 2012. I was just thinking about you Vicky and how cheerful you seem to stay while "experiencing" an Alaskan winter. We indeed got some snow here in Eastern Washington and the forecast is more of the same over the next week or so. I shouldn't complain since we have had such a mild snow free winter thus far.......but......I"m just not a fan of long dark cold days, so have been studying, revising, and adding to my "hikes, backpacks, and road trips" list, to keep busy and to keep smiling. Won't be long! Thanks for your photo visit. OMT
