Mercury by iPhone

Mercury by iPhone

It's more than a little astonishing that you can take a picture of a really tiny planet with a telephone, but here you go. Follow the line from Jupiter and Venus down to the house on the corner. Just above and to the right of its chimney/aerial, there's a bright dot. That's Mercury.

The other photos (from a proper camera) are better. But hey - iPhone!

Three of the inner planets

Three of the inner planets

Just above the roof of the house on the corner there's a faint bright dot. That's Mercury, that is.

The really obvious splob is Venus. Jupiter just out of frame, sadly.

Panasonic GF1, 200ISO, ƒ/1.7, on a tripod. But the tripod was too short, so was handheld above head height.

It's only a shame that Global Rainbow wasn't visible behind this, but the angle is a little wrong. Drat.
