Transporting farm produce
This photo was taken at Ijora bridge, Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria on 14/02/12. 1/3 of the produce - tomatoes, pepper, e.t.c seen in the bus are already decaying when the produce is yet to a market or its final consumers.
This poor, unhealthy system of transporting vegetables doesn't encourage the farmer to produce more as the income is reduced. It increases food insecurity, unemployment, and wastage. Again some of the decaying vegetables will later be consumed by poor consumers, who can only afford the perished ones causing health problems on the long run.
The Walmart model in India could be employed here to assist.
