Just a little slice of East London life. My children say this is where you get the best slap (pronounced slup) chips (soft french fries).

    Great shot Ilse but I will have to pass on the fries. the Poutine idea sounds a little more appealing but only 5 or 10 fries at the most and there MUST be vinegar on them for me.

    Beautiful shot Ilse. I will pass on the soft fries because I like mine super crunchy. Looking at that pic I woder if you took a closer shot of the windmill on the right. I am sure you could get creative and combine it with a lovely stone texture.

    Not to mention their toasted bacon and egg sarmies!! You drive up, park and get served from your car. The waiters clunck a tray onto your wndow and you munch away watching the locals. An absolute East London icon.

    Found this definition:

    When French Fries are thick and long and don’t go crispy in the oil. They are soft and stodgy, ideal for mixing in mounds of tomato sauce or vinegar, or both. Slap is Afrikaans for limp. This is another staple food for surfers.

    I'd love them. Potatoes are my favorite food--prepare them in any fashion and I'd like them.
