Mothwings

    Mothwings fluttering,
    hover, rust,
    crossed and patched
    return to dust

    (Ilse Batten 21/06/08)

Please allow me to explain the title:
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal
    Matthew 6:19

In case you're interested (man in the moon perhaps) this is some lovely rust a friend and I found in a business district, cropped, then layered and tortured.

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Cartel Color - Red Dominates, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

i see nothing even close to a moth just a happy pig in love, right back and another pig top front who is about to transform into a cloud form, he is an older pig...but i see no moths

LOL! My flickr travels to your site seem destined to trail this smart as..., Omsel. LOL! But I must agree with him, I see no moths, but tell him I don't see any pigs either, that his imagination is as wild as yours, lovely Ilse. But wild is good :) What I see is abstract brilliance...yet again!! Good Morning, my dear friend. Wonderful work, indeed!

    20. ilsebatten (48 months ago | reply)

      Dear Omsel aka Paul
I assure you there are no pigs in this picture, but I have seen them frolicking in the waves of your castle moat. However if you do want to know about the title it is really quite simple:

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal
      Matthew 6:19

Now ask the crocodile in the sky to come down to earth.

I see what you have done with this image and it's a very interesting take to duplicate the subject and add it ontop of the original at an angle.
This is certainly a case where the part(s) become more than the whole.
Your rusty item has certainly transcended into a piece of art
      I find it fascinating!
      Great job Ilse :)

      I really like this treatment.

Even though you manipulated the details, you didn't overdo the them, which means the picture retains a balanced composition and a tasteful appearance.

      Very pleasing.

(In fact, I enjoy the picture even more in large size because the various layers become more distinct and the 3-D effect more pronounced.)

One other thought: whether or not it's some sort of unintentional, subconscious expression on your part, I also see a significant degree of social comment here in the form of this tarnished Red Cross Society symbol, which is obviously worse for wear, but still resolutely standing.
