Annaliese - background strobist boot camp

Took a few shots in preperation for this challenge and found this great little skate part. Must admit though I have really struggled with processing of the image, really keen on critique and advice from all.

    Model: Annaliese
    Makeup : Loretta Griffin
    Wardrobe Loretta Griffin

    Strobist info
Sb24 left with rather broken brollie (was windy) 1/4 power
    430ex right with brolli 1/8power
    fired by Skyport
flash bare on floor behind model pointing at wall 1/16
    fire optical trigger

Really struggled with lighting last night, couldnt get them how I wanted.

Processes with just curves and a little dodging and burning, and an overlay layer to increase contrast suggestions for PP welcome!

Great job here Matt. I really like the color contrast between the dress and the background. The lighting really brings out the colors of the dress.

Very nice - I like the vignetting and how much the colours jump out.
Might be nice to see a bit more detail in the hair (it looks fairly dark) and the hand looks a little blown out - that may well be my monitor though.

Great shot! Love how the colors on the subject pop and how the background is desaturated graffiti.

nice contrasts going on here Matt, I agree it's a little blown in a couple of places and the hair could do with a rim light maybe, but overall I think it's a great shot!

I think it's my processing that's doing that, just can't quite get it how I want.

The contrast of the colors against the B&W graffiti works well. I think this is a great shot. They only thing I would change would be to back off the vignetting some.

I'm not great at post processing, but what you did here looks fine to me. I think that the lighting is nicely-balanced here. The color contrast between the subject and background is my favorite part of this image.

One problem - the assignment specifically said: "Will run full page in magazine, so shoot vertical." Before the entry deadline, you should recrop this one or reshoot in this location with a different composition.

I like the scene of this photo. The background really helps bring a different mood into the photo.

I love the contrasts in color and in the "urban streets" look of the background vs. the sophisticated look of the model. Overall, I think you did a really good job with the lighting, though I agree that a little more detail in the hair and less exposure on her hand, chest and neck would make this an even better shot. A very strong entry, nonetheless.
