Berlin, Germany

I didn't work today, so I went to a museum.

This is one of the airplanes, which supplied Berlin during the blockade from June 1948 to May 1949 with an air lift. It's, a Douglas C-47 "Skytrain" and it's hanging now on the roof structure of the German technique museum Berlin.

If you follow this link on google-maps and you're zooming in you can see this airplane hanging around :-)

See where this picture was taken. [?]

Great photo. A number of those old C47/DC3's are still flying all over the world.

When we went to this museum, we spent whole day there and still didn't see everything. It's truly amazing.

Oh-Gertrude ! When I saw this, my heart jumped ! My father, Roger Altman, was one of those pilots of the Berlin Airlift and flew one of these planes. The Geman people made him a replica of the plane from a piece of one that could no longer fly, and my sister has it in her office at home. It is also special because his family originated from Germany. Thank you for posting this !
