Irak - Marine testet Amphibien-Fahrzeug
US Marines handout released on 30 November 2004 shows a Marine (front) from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit provides security while Iraqi soldiers from the 2nd Ministry of Interior Commando Battalion experience the maneuvering capabilities of Small Unit Riverine Craft from Small Craft Company. The training was to prepare for an amphibious landing near Yusufiyah the following day, when U.S. and Iraqi forces swept through fields along the riverbank in search of hidden weapons caches. The Mission was part of Operation Plymouth Rock, a fresh offensive aimed at routing out anti-Iraqi militants in northern Babil province and southern Baghdad. More than 5,000 Iraqi, U.S. and British forces are participating in the operation, which has so far netted 195 suspected insurgents. EPA/ Lance Cpl. Zachary R. Frank +++(c) dpa - Bildfunk+++
