Yes the loss of the hair will be such a shame & you do see young men at college with great locks, but your fantastic image, with the most amazing subtle tones will be a great memory for ever.

Do you have some "locks of love" type thing in AUS? Lots of kids in the US donate their 10"+ haircuts to be made into wigs for cancer patients.

I was just going to suggest what @jennyhud said.....my daughter & I have been growing our hair for 2 years for a charity in the UK that makes wigs for children with alopecia or those undergoing chemo. At least if you donated your little man's hair, you may feel like some good had come from the 'big chop'.
He is beautiful and will remain so, with or without his gorgeous locks
