I'm ready for my close-up...
Good morning, all. Hoping everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Today's post is one of about 10 new species of caterpillars found here at home last season, that being a Clear Dagger Moth larvae. It was one of the most beautiful cat's I have ever seen. It literally glowed from the inside-out, which was almost impossible to capture. And take a look at those little feet...=-)
I believe his host plant shown here was a species of hickory...shagbark or pignut, according to a source I consulted.
Wishing everyone a great day...mild temps forecasted for our area this week, and closing in on the end of Feb already means it shouldn't be long before the first b'fly flutters...first photo last yr was on Mar. 16, a Gray Comma. Then on Mar 23rd an Eastern Comma and Mourning Cloak...=-)
Large size is best, if time permits.

Good morning Daisy...and yet another great find. Excellent lead photo also...love the perspective and that you can see its head clearly. Can't say I've ever seen one of these here, nor the adult butterfly. I hope you are well and having a truly nice day. Enjoy!

Very pretty shots of this caterpillar here and I have noticed a few species of caterpillars here sometimes have that same internal like glow to them
