In defense...
Good morning, all. Hoping everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Today's post is one of about 10 new species of caterpillars found here at home last season, that being a Clear Dagger Moth larvae. It was one of the most beautiful cat's I have ever seen. It literally glowed from the inside-out, which was almost impossible to capture.
This post shows him in defensive mode...telling me I've got enough shots and to go away. I believe his host plant shown here was a species of hickory...shagbark or pignut, according to a source I consulted.
Wishing everyone a great day...mild temps forecasted for our area this week, and closing in on the end of Feb already means it shouldn't be long before the first b'fly flutters...first photo last yr was on Mar. 16, a Gray Comma. Then on Mar 23rd an Eastern Comma and Mourning Cloak...=-)
